Some of you, My children, may reply :" The Church has grown continuously. Christians are more and more numerous: this is sufficient proof that our Church is complete!" Know, My children, that your Father has always kept watch over the Church since its birth and that, along with My Son and the Holy Spirit, I wanted it to be infallible through My Vicar, the Holy Father. However, it is not true that if Christians knew Me as I am, the
tender and merciful, good and liberal Father, they would practice this holy religion more fervently and sincerely?
My Children, is it not perhaps true that, if you knew you had a Father Who thinks of you and loves you infinitely, you would in your turn make an effort to be more faithful to your Christian duties, as well as your duties as citizens to be just and to render justice to God and to men?
Is it not true, that, if you knew this Father Who loves you all without distinction and Who, without distinction, calls you all by the sweet name of children, you would love Me as affectionate children, and that this love, under my impulse would become an active love, extending itself to the rest of humanity who still do not know this Christian society and who know even less Him Who created them and is their Father?
If somebody went and talked to these souls, abandoned to their superstitions, or to so many others who call Me God because they know I exist but not that I am close to them; if somebody said to them that their Maker is their Father as well, and that He thinks of them and is concerned with them, that He surrounds them with intimate affection in their sorrows and dejection, this would obtain the conversion of the most stubborn ones, and these conversions would be more numerous and firm, that is, more persevering.
Some of you, examining this work of love I am carrying out among men, will find cause for criticism and will say "But don't the missionaries, after arriving in those distant countries talk to the non-believers about God,
His goodness and His mercy? What more could they say about God, since they speak of Him all the time?"
The missionaries have spoken and still speak of God as far as they know Him, but I assure you, you do-not know Me as I am, because I am coming to proclaim Myself The Father of all and the most tender of fathers, in order to transform your love, which has become distorted by fear.
I come to make Myself similar to My creatures, to correct the idea you have of a terrifying just God, as I see men spending their whole lives without confiding in their only Father, Whose only wish is to make their earthly life easier and then give them a divine life, in heaven.
This is a proof that souls do not know Me any more than you do, not having overcome the idea you haveabout Me. But now I am giving you this light. Remain in the light and bring it to everybody, and it will be a powerful means both to obtain conversions and to shut, if possible, the gates of hell, for I now repeat My promise, which will last forever:
ALL THOSE WHO CALL ME BY THE NAME OF FATHER, EVEN IF ONLY ONCE, WILL NOT PERISH, BUT WILL BE SURE OF THEIR ETERNAL LIFE AMONG THE CHOSEN ONES.
My first thought is that it ought to be understood that if the work was complete then we would already be in the Era of Peace, and we are not, therefore; the work is not yet complete.
My second thought is that He seems to go out of His way to convince us that if we knew Him as He is that we would not fear Him. And by knowing Him as He is it would change how we relate with Him, and consequently change how we live that relationship, and that the fruit of that would be that this correct understanding of Him would spread to others by our prayers, actions and words. And that this would result in many conversions, and more persevering ones.
This tells me that as hardened and/or repressed as people are they will respond to the idea that God is gentle, affectionate, loving and compassionate, merciful and tender, and that He wants us to reciprocate this way in relation to Him. He does not want servility, subserviance. He wants a childlike trust in a good Father who loves infinitely. This should tell us much because no child trusts in a severe parent, severity breaks that trust in children because it is abuse to be severe with a child. Therefore; if He wants trust in us toward Him, then He has no intention of being severe; that would defeat the purpose. It is the world that is severe, the world, as Jesus said, that has been seduced by the devil.
I can already hear the objection of some. If I allow myself to be that vulnerable, then I can get hurt more easily, and far worse that if I protect myself by being hard and uncaring. True. But who is not moved to pity at least if not compassion and heart-filled mercy by a vulnerable child who is hurt? Well, you may reply, that person who abused me wasn’t! Yes, but do you really expect the same behavior from God as your abusers? Being vulnerable is not what caused the abuse. Being vulnerable is what allows us to be affected by others good and bad. Vulnerability allows us to be moved by the Holy Spirit, or by the good words of others, or by by prayer or scripture or good spiritual reading... so many good things. Besides, abusers abuse people and in large part due to not allowing themselves to be vulnerable, because hardness of heart is part and parcel of being an abuser. If one remained vulnerable, one could not abuse others. This is how the abused often become abusers. The Father and Jesus have made themselves vulnerable in the extreme as an example. By giving us free will, God allows us to reject Him, blaspheme Him, curse Him, and harm Him in harming His children whom He loves enough to send His only begotten Son to die for us. Jesus to this day allows Himself to be as vulnerable as possible in the Blessed Sacrament; fully present in the form of bread.
Life has its difficulties and the world is harsh. But with God our Father we have a refuge, a consoler, One who mitigates the harshness and severity and abuses of the world, the adversary, and those who serve his agenda, knowingly or unwittingly.
Lastly, this is amazing. But what better reason could we have to learn to trust our Father and be completely vulnerable to Him, and then allow ourselves to be vessels for that same relationship for others?
“ALL THOSE WHO CALL ME BY THE NAME OF FATHER, EVEN IF ONLY ONCE, WILL NOT PERISH, BUT WILL BE SURE OF THEIR ETERNAL LIFE AMONG THE CHOSEN ONES. “
