Coming Home to our Father
(Mio & the Land of Faraway) I was delightfully surprised to discover that this Swedish film has a great deal of parallel with being a child of our Heavenly Father. This young boy, Mio, after being mistreated by his alleged "family" and through a kind of supernatural intervention, finds Himself brought back to His true Father... a great King, of a heavenly kind of kingdom, (which means Mio is a Prince with a great inheritance and royal heritage). When he arrives he discover that it is his destiny to free all the children of the land who have been enslaved by a devilish type of figure Kato.
Mio's re-connection with his father gives him the strength to embark on this quest that he is actually destined to triumph in, so he is told. He now knows his true identity. This experience of His true, loving and powerful father King gives him a security that although he is afraid at first, he knows he must confront the adversary and as he proceeds in faith, he grows stronger and many times he is protected in super-natural ways that ultimately enable his victory.
It is a fantasy and not everything parallels, but it is an enjoyable story. with a happy ending, albeit a bit dramatic since he does confront evil and must destroy Kato in order to free the children. For us, it is rather the Father Himself that must overcome the evil one, but through Him we do resist, surrender over to Father that He would conquer and transform, thus freeing all of His children from it's grip.
This story, to my delight, was written by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren, mostly known for Pippi Longstocking & the Noisy Children of Bullerby (my all time favorite!). I posted this clip for it's own sake. But if you want to see the movie, it has english subtitles and it's a bit hard to find. but there may be a copy of it on youtube. Just make sure you purchase a copy that plays on a US DVD player if you are in the states.

See what the apostles really looked like!
Maria Valtorta (visionary of The Poem and up for canonization) described to the painter Lorenzo Ferri faces of Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the twelve apostles.
Giuseppe is St. Joseph, Giacomo is St. James, Giovanni is St. John, Giuda is St. Jude.

Note on the 4th image above (Jesus): Not a photo but here because the woman that painted it was actually a professional artist before her conversion. She is another chosen soul who has seen the actual face of Jesus regularly for over 20 years:Vassula Ryden.
